Ta!

Three various shades of greenish brown plastic for the dash and then at least three shades of mustard yellow for the vinyl seats/door cards and carpets, plus brown seatbelts.

The radio is a nice old MW/LW job, I need an aerial to see if it works, but it's pretty useless with no FM, hence my quest for tunes!

I'm sure there was a guy at the NEC classic car show selling old Blaupunkt's that had an aux in for 40 quid or so... (although you needed a 5 pin DIN cable to use it...)

Worth a look on ebay?

Hi Louise.

Jeepers, that's a clean car! And I er, um, uh... like it :? Very much. I actually like the estate versions even more - the funky raised lip (spoiler  ) at the rear always struck me as being ahead of its time.

With the original radio installed, the car will also have a couple of speakers already fitted? Where are they, the doors or the rear shelf?

Tbh, I think - if I were you - I'd be tempted to simply replace the radio with something that'll do what you want - but keep this radio for originality (refit it should you ever come to sell the car...)

I suspect there will be the slight problem of having to 'square-out' the radio aperture to suit modern Din-fitting systems. Should be fairly straight-forward, and hopefully the old radio can also be replaced without too much effort - and without the alteration being too obvious.

The power-supply wiring will be already in place for your new system (tho' will need an adaptor) as will the speaker cables (ditto!). Also, once you fix your aerial, you'll be able to have radio 4 playing 24/7...

I think that would be a better bet than considering fitting a completely new system/speakers.

Check out eBay - I bought a cracking Sony CD/Radio on there for my niece's Bongo - it had an Aux/MP3 socket on the front and even a remote control - so she could operate it all from the rear as she settled down for the night! In immaculate condition, it cost around £20 delivered. And it sounded very good.

(If your old car speakers are a bit long in t'tooth, they, too, can be replaced with modern equivalents - straight swap.)

Theres just the one speaker directly under the radio, and I'd like to retain the look of the original radio TBH.

I've got a lot of options now though! I've even heard of companies that can convert old head units, but I'd imagine that it would be expensive!

I get my Archers fix on a Sunday morning, and if I miss that there's always i-player. ;)

I'm seriously shocked, I ordered a cover from ecas late yesterday afternoon, and it just arrived. Do they have some kind of worm hole for deliveries?

Here's one company that converts old style radios, Louise....

http://www.joesclassiccarradio.com/

PS:- Get rid of that massage style seat cover thingy, it'll ruin the seat.

I noticed that too. Maybe there should be some sort of prize? Maybe we should stop new members joining to keep it at 602? Maybe we should shut the site down having reached that milestone to forever preserve it in history?
