 Re: Towing with a 2cv?
Thanks Jonathan, I can get seafrance down to £92 by travelling at silly o'clock, but it's still twice the price of no trailer.
I've put other bikes in cars in the past by taking the forks off, but they were scruffy little offroaders. The trouble with a bike this size is that once the wheels are off it's bloody hard to move without damaging it, so it either has to be done whole or in component form. There's also a part of this plan that involves unloading it in dover, so component form is a little inconvenient .

Would a second pair of hands in Dover help?

I booked the 8:15am crossing to Calais, and the 9pm crossing back, and as I mentioned, I only booked it about 4 or 5 days before going. I can never understand the pricing policy of these sort of companies. Hope you get something sorted

 Re: Towing with a 2cv?
Yes, the pricing policy is very frustrating. We intend to take the 2CV to Brittany and Normandy in a few weeks and would prefer not to be tied down on our return date. I did think about getting a single from Dover to Calais and then return whenever we wanted and buy another single ticket but I guess that may well work out expensive.

 Re: Towing with a 2cv?
Much appreciated Russ, but I would still need to work it out so it could be done single handed. I had the tape measure out earlier, it's much closer than you'd think, . I need to decide if I can cope with only having one seat the whole time I'm in the UK, if the seats were standard I could drop another straight in, but they're not.

 Re: Towing with a 2cv?
Can you not just unbolt the seat and place it behind the drivers seat while transporting your bike and, hey presto-there you go?

 Re: Towing with a 2cv?
Probably, although it would be more of a squeeze than you'd imagine. Trouble is that for logistical reasons I think there'll be times when I'll need to have the bike with me and carry a passenger. I think this is going to sway it one way or the other. I'll just have to wait for plans to unfold.
