 Re: Leboncoin/eBay finds
I don't think the grey/white split type scheme has the dreaded 'D*lly' moniker to live down because firstly it was very short lived, so not at all common. And secondly It follows a accepted pattern of rendering a car in two colours that was used on many other vehicles in earlier times. If I ever paint another one I intend using that model, if not those colours.

No, not really - it was more to do with the kind of people who bought wollies. The kind of people who didn't actually want or like a 2cv, they just wanted something "cute". They've all moved on now... Mostly, they sold or even scrapped their cars when they failed the first MOT on chassis rot. Does anybody have a copy of the UDAC spoof "travelogue" handy, "D*lly's big day out" (or something similar)? (Oh, and 250... I never did manage to roll it)

This is simply my take on things, not 100% fact: The D*lly stigma, as Adrian says, was from the old days when most true 2cvers were rolling about in shite old drummers as it was all they could afford, and people started coming to camps in brand new wollies, something most 2cvers could only dream of financally. Nowadays, it's more to do with the CoCo the clown paint jobs and ridiculous names that make wollies a bit, well, uncool compared to rocking up in something like a shabby AZAM. I don't like them as much as I would a single colour 2cv, but at the end of the day with 2cv prices as stupid as they are, beggars can't be choosers, and I'd have a D*lly if it was the difference between having a 2cv or not. It's really just a 2cving in-joke that wollies are a bit naff, it's not held against D*lly owners, as anybody willing to put time and effort into 2cv ownership and enthusiasm deserves to be congratulated on doing so. Even if they have a gay car.

To be fair wollies can be cured and brought back into mainstream civilisation. This was once a Blueberries and Cream D*lly.
