Finally ''took'' time out to fix wife's 2cv 1990 speciel bought in Paris. Lorriane saw the very last new 2cv at a dealer in Paris in 1990 and asked to buy it. Dealer said don't bother it is a car of the past, buy this new AX, wonderful car. She declined and drove away in her new red 2cv.
Time has come for many repairs, she needs a new chassis but not this time.
Rust is eating away not too bad, only pedal floors, front bit of the floors. Sills are next time (when chassis will be replaced)
Since the body is off, decided to lock the selector ring and the 2 rear nuts + adjust the selector forks. Some other smaller jobs done but don't have time now. Body back on this weekend and 2cv back on the road again monday morning.

Putting the lid on the gear box and you find this. Spring worn half way through.
Got some original spring in stock, why not replace it.
Drill out the rivert holding the cup, replace the spring, 7mm bolt, washers and nylon nut fits perfect. Just to be safe, drill the nut and bolt, secure with a split pin. Job done in 5 mins. No more worries.
