My old man had 3 beetles in the 60's (not at the same time) ,one was ok then became unreliable when he converted it up to 1300 from 1200 or something then he found he was under it every weekend so he could use it in the week, one caught fire on the M1 and he rolled one on a bend :shock: :lol: The final straw was not being able to fit me in my cot and stuff in the back easily in the early 70s, he ended up getting an early Dyane and then later a 2CV in 1975 and never looked back ,we had family holidays in a later Dyane with my younger sis too and 4 bikes on the roof rack plus the luggage :D 8-) I will have to raid their house to find some photos one day,for another thread of course :P

IMO for a car of a design that old. and for you to walk away in the way you did. i'd say it performed better than i would have expected.

+1... I don't a modern supermini less than 10 years old would have done any better...
