I like but think I'd probably go the other way round with white roof and red spanner-I quite like the idea of a slightly more "heat reflective" roof colour as it gets a bit warm in there! ;)

Back to the present, I had another look at my fuel gauge sender unit this morning and decided to do (in theory) a slightly more permanent bodge, look away if your eyes are easilly offended.....

I drilled 2 very small holes in the broken metal thingymebob bit, wrapped a length of wire between the two and soldered them together-ugly but, theoretically functional.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to put it back together this week along with my replacement filler neck courtesy of "Wolfy's Workshop" ( http://www.wolfysworkshop.co.uk/ ) and fit the tank guard at long last.

Of course, I may just be lazy and do nothing. We'll just have to wait and see.

Just been in the garage "tinkering" and putting the finishing touches (paint) on my new filler neck and now need to source a one way valve for the filler neck breather.

Anybody got any suggestions please? I don't mind a trawl around a few scrapyards but would ideally like some idea of what cars are the best/easiest to get one from.

Also, with car up in the air and rear wings off, I decided it was time to reduce the size of the rear bumpstops as they'd quite obviously spent rather a lot of time in contact with the rear arms. I cut the one side down successfully and then the near side fell off the inner wing at the mere sight of a saw. Oh well, angle grinding tonight then methinks! ;) Who needs bumpstops anyway?..........

There's a bit of hose with *something* on the end of it attatched to the inner wing of that shell i picked up, I'll go and have a look later, and if it's a valve I'll post it upto you.

Volvo 940s and 960s are easy, there is a roll over anti drain valve dangling above the axle.

Just been having another tinker in the garage, nothing much really but it looks a bit more "the part" now.

And, as I've now got the fuel gauge sorted, I don't really want to have to take the tank back out in a hurry-especially not because I've worn a hole in the bottom of it!

So, I've finally managed to pull my finger out and fit a tank guard at last!! :ugeek:

And it's back down on its wheels now 8-)

I found a suitable one way fuel filler neck breather valve from Ebay for the princely sum of £7.59 inc postage so I got jiggy and fitted it last night.

So, with the wings refitted and the bumpstops removed, I now realise that I've been running on the bumpstops since I built it! It's a wee bit lower now, just need to level it out side to side, get the new roof painted, sort the dampers, fit the new steering column and fit the number sticker on the passenger door and it's (practically) done. :D

Love this photo, I don't know why but I do. So you can have it too.
