The problem is that you may well not recoup what you've spent on the car and the next owner will reap the benefit of all those repairs. If you sell the 2CV, you've still got to buy another car. Get a couple of secondhand wheels and tyres if YOU think they are needed, a secondhand cylinder head which you will LEARN to fit yourself, and get the car on the road. Worry about the low compression a little later.

Hit up the BT website - they do a credit card that's interest free for 15months. Whack the bill on there (or do a balance transfer to your bank account) divide the cost of the repairs by 15 and pay that off each month via direct debit.

You then have a car, no overdraft, no interest and can join the rest of us for a great summer.

Yes I know you are all right, I am just panicking. Never been this close to financial meltdown so it is all new to me! Now that the car feels so much better to drive (when it works) it would be such a shame to sell it on.

The MOT is current at due in July.

What you need to do is get yourself down to registers weekend in St Ives. Its not far really. Im sure there would be plenty of people there happy to take a look at the car for you.

Im sure if you were to give them beer they would tinker on certain bits for you. Theres also your friendly 2cv motor factors on site for parts aswell.
