 Re: Bodge jobs.
i had to find this thread again only due to my dad telling me that his mate was going to start welding up the D*lly today LOL anyways i got upto the unit, and we started taking everything out the car and he got his bits n bobs out n machines and all that, i was expecting to be cutting away the original battered floor and welding in a new piece..... nope he is simply cutting little square metal plates and welding ontop of the original rotten stuff..... f..k knows what hes going todo when the does the right hand side... seenas the floor isnt touching any of the sill or bulkead at the front! LOL i wonder what the portugese ones looked like as the were coming out the factory? did they know what underseal was?

Ah, the joys of "MOT standard" welding... Don't let him do ANYTHING more on it, and cut all the jigsaw that he's pigeon-poo'd into place straight back out. Then get somebody with a clue to do it properly...

 Re: Bodge jobs.
lolll we'll dads said hes getting it mot'd and then he selling it, i will be letting everyone on here know first hand just incase we can get someone how knows the cars and will errr sort him out and look after him instead of him just going to a random who likes the look of it and then scraps him a few months down the road lol but if no luck on here im sure he wont last long on autotrader! the right front floor is being done errr properly.....ish a whole piece has been cut out but i think theres alot more rot under there than what dad had anticipated!

 Re: Bodge jobs.
Touble is, it's much harder to sort out badly done repairs than rotten original panels, and anybody who knows the cars will know this and probably try to avoid.

 Re: Bodge jobs.
right then, not a bodge job as such - but this bloke who runs 'classic 2cv recycling' recently bought this: it was listed on eBay within the last week for a 'buy it now' price of £350 or £375 - i've looked through the completed listings & can't friggin' find it... Anyway it's now on for £2000 - get your bids in!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Citroen-2CV-Race- ... 0406539752

The guy seems to have lots of stuff on ebay recently with ridiculous prices - an engine for £380, 2cv drum brake box for £180, set of seats for £100 quid, distinctly average looking panels for £40 plus... He isn't going to 'recycle' much at those prices
