 Squeaky Steering Column
Hello there
Not a massive issue but where my steering column passed through the bracket attached to the bulkhead / instrument panel - it's squeaking rather annoyingly. I was going to squirt some oil on it, then stopped as I remember recently reading about nylon bushes swelling (on the selector arm)
i've looked in the manuals - and can't findf anything - Haynes mentioned using Dot 4 on one piece of the steering column but that must be daft given what it does to paintwork etc.
any ideas????

 Re: Squeaky Steering Column
I think I've heard Talcum Powder being mentioned as with gearsticks but I might be wrong

 Re: Squeaky Steering Column
Talc on gearslides, I'm just rummaging through the revue techniques to see what it suggests for steering columns. I *thought* it was a felt bush but may be wrong...

 Re: Squeaky Steering Column
My first car did this and in my ignorance I squirted WD40 down the column. It worked a treat. No responsibility is accepted etc. etc.
