Post 652's??
Hi has anyone had any experience with 652 piston and barrel conversions??

I rebuilt the engine for my car and fit 9:1's which are very good but i'm still wanting MORE :twisted:

I've heard the 652 gets a lot hotter than normal, how much and is that a bad thing? Does the fan/cooling couling still fit all the same?

Will i need stronger crank shafts and have to uprate other parts or can you just swap them and go for it?

thanks
H 8-)

Yes. Don't.

It's purely an internal change, so yes. The problem is that the barrels are VERY thin walled afterwards. On the one we had in the 4x4, before we put a Visa engine in, a much bigger carb jet had been put in to keep it cool. It drank like, well, the owner.

Putting a Visa engine in whole is a much better solution. If you can find one.

I've got big drilled jet in my carb already so it's juicy any way :D

Because running lean gives hotter combustion than running rich.

Pretty much. You need to do a bit of work to the flywheel to use a 2cv starter (or use the Visa starter), and you need to do some wiring to use the Visa ignition.

I assume you've read Cats pages;

Can't link directly to it, but it's in the tuning section. I've no experience personally but I believe it a better idea to swap to the whole 652 engine.

Andy Morris was selling a set of 652 pistons and bored out 602 barrels, was going to buy them but didn't had a better offer before I'd heard back.
