 Re: Paris - Persepolis - Paris 1971
Sadly, I didn't turn up anything at the car museum in Loudeac. They do have a Sahara there though, or rather, a slightly dodgy looking Sahara-like body, on a 4x2 chassis. Haven't had any reply from the ex-student who work/s/ed for the PSA in house magazine. So in the mean time, here's an inspiring photo, taken from 2CV 40ans d'amour, which has a page or so on the PPP. Hope your pushing arms are feeling up to it.

Thanks for the update and keeping a lookout.
The itinerary planning is coming on really well using the information we have already. I'm really excited by this route. A lot of the original roads are now tarmac (presuming the original raid stuck to the major roads) but we want to factor in some dirt/off road sections.
I ordered a back issue of the mag with that excellent cover photo. I need to know where that was taken..
And if anybody comes across someone at the French National reminiscing about their time in Persepolis, let me know. A chat with an original participant would be too good to miss.

 Re: Paris - Persepolis - Paris 1971
Ru, I found someone on one of the SM forums who used to be in contact Jacques Wolgensinger the man responsible for setting up the various Raids. Sadly he died in 2008 but his widow came to Retromobile in 2009, but hasn't been in contact since.
He has offered to get in contact with her (hoping she's still alive) to see if she'll look through her husband's archives for anything that might help.

Nice. I wonder if she has an original road book floating around.. now that would be something!
I had done a search on Jacques and noticed he had written quite a few publications on the Citroen raids, but nothing on PPP unfortunately.

Maybe not the raid you were looking for participants, Ru, but the contact details of a Paris - Kabul raider i saw here whilst browsing... http://forum2pattes.forumactif.com/raids-et-preparations-f9/40-ans-du-paris-kaboul-t51757.htm(Oh, and you'll have to join up first to see it. I can PM you the details if you're interested)

Bingo! - Ru, see this post by an original participant of PPP '71 putting up some of his old photos. If you're still after a contact you could join that forum and PM him.

Like the way that somebody has replied to a photo of Andy "NodMoz" Morris's 2cv, "Buzz", with the words..."English are crazy"
