 Re: My old Blue Bamboo
Well done on the electrics Old Nail and everyone! Had you thought about yellow bulbs, I'm not ususally a fan but somehow thought they might look fitting on your car? So good luck on the starting up, not sure how much restoration you have done to the engine, but it probably will take some time to get it started again and recheck everything several times but don't get disheartened if it does, walk away have a cuppa and try again later, it will go eventually one way or the other! Bon Courage. Chris

 Re: My old Blue Bamboo
Thanks guys. I did have yellow bulbs in at one point and will probably return to them. As I last used the car in winter, and needed the extra light I swapped them for halogens. I agree they look right on an older 2cv, which is why I narrowed the headlamp bar and went for a period colour to respray it. I'm not trying to make a 'fake' AZAM, but I would like to capture some of its 1960's charm.

 Re: My old Blue Bamboo
Style-wise, and from a purely aesthetic viewpoint, I think the azam is the best looking of all the 2cvs from 48 to 90. This is going to be a really nice car...

 Re: My old Blue Bamboo
There are also yellow halogens, so now you can have enough light and the right look.

 Re: My old Blue Bamboo
Well I've put the yellow headlamp bulbs back in, but what else do you notice in this photo? Yes, she's running again! I've also done a lot of fiddling, even more swearing, and no small amount of scratching of new paintwork but finally the dash panel is back in and functioning, and the car has been driven up and down the drive under it's own power for the first time in ages. There are glitches, but nothing major, so I'm pleased to report progress has been made! More here: http://olsnails2cv.blogspot.com/

 Re: My old Blue Bamboo
Amazing!
Do all UK 2CV's have a windscreendefroster on both sides? "We" only have one on the drivers side...

 Re: My old Blue Bamboo
Yes I think all late models do, but there is no hole in my windscreen frame for attaching the top right hand end of the drivers vent. If I had noticed that earlier I would have made one.
