What is the best thing to do? Get new seats, get the ones I have recovered or get some GS ones?

It depends on what you want to do.

You'll have one horrible job finding decent GS seats these days. BX ones used to be a good alternative - again, rocking-horse-doo-doo now.

There's absolutely no reason why they need to be Citroen seats. Just take a tape-measure down to your local friendly scrappy, and see what there is with mounts that can be fairly easily adapted.

Or, getting the originals re-fubished with new, decent fabric and rubbers can work wonders. Depends if you favour originality or want something more supportive/with head restraints etc.

Visa/C15 seats are farily narrow and fit well (with the necessary adaptors), but as Adrian says a morning in the local scrappers should yield something suitable.

Visa car seats will be few and far between now, whilst most C15s will have been worked (probably by a fat hairy-arsed courier) to within an inch of their lives...

I have seen a full set of new ones for £200 which is very tempting, but perhaps throwing money away. My seats are quite good to sit on but I have covers to hide how bad they look.

I second new rubbers. Grab those and some new canvas seat and back supports.

I found that on a daily car, the grey velvety diamond patterned re-upholstery sets don't last very long.

This is something I plan to do on my Grey Charlie - where originality certainly won't be an issue. I find the current seats far too soft (even tho' they're in good order) and also a tad too high.

Had a good look around the local scrappy. Most modern car seats should fit from a size point of view, but you'll undoubtedly have to make up adaptors to suit the floor fixings - perhaps as simple as flat steel plates to cater for the difference in rail width/length. They'd have to be bolted down firmly as many of these seats also house the seat belt buckles - so a change of belt would be in order too.

The rear seats look like presenting more of a problem. My initial thoughts were to try and adapt a complete rear seat into the 2cv, making up floor and backrest brackets to suit - most modern car rear seats fold forwards and have brackets mounted on the interior 'wings' to clip on to. However, I'm now thinking the best approach might be to retain the existing rear seat frame - strip it down completely, and effectively re-upholster it with the modern cushions from the new car. This way, the whole thing should slot straight back into the car - and can be removed again for, er, picnics and stuff.

The best seats I've found so far are from a Daewoo Lanos (oh, the ignominy...) as they were really supportive, had height adjustment built in, and a really nifty black with subtle grey 'Aztecy' patterns on it...

Also at registars I saw a 2cv with pug 406 *I think* seats, the rear was a bit cramped but it looked comfy.

I have mk1 Panda seats, they fit well in the Van but not in original mounts and have headrests but are not comfortable and are a browny/orange colour. (maybe soon to be replaced)
