:o Oh come on! It's blatant. The concept was shown at The Paris Motor Show 1998, to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the 2cv. 8-)

What was the original brief of the 2cv? To solve the biggest mass transport problem being faced in the '30s.

What is the biggest mass transport problem of 2010? It ain't a lack of cars, that's for sure.

The only real "new 2cv", in terms of re-addressing the original question, would be a properly integrated, effective public transport system!

(and don't forget that amongst the many social reforms that Citroen did in the '20s, they made buses and they RAN bus services...)

I agree.....Not that you'll find me in a bus very often  Not quite sure what the <mutters> was about though, I'm only stating the truth, Citroen did use the silhouette of our favourite car, to style the C3 ;)

Has anyone noticed that Citroen have taken nostalgic icons Monroe and Lennon and DUBBED them with soundalikes so that they say something completely different from what they were saying when originally interviewed? Oh great, we've got nostalgic icons being used to mouth off about the pointlessness of nostalgia (ie ironic) in an ad about a car that uses a nostalgic icon at the heart of its identity whilst ironically saying that its not nostalgic.
We've got irony upon irony upon irony!
Hopefully, this vortex of irony will soon whip itself into an ironic whirlwind, which will transport the entire marketing/advertising/pr industry to some ironic parallel universe. Hopefully, they'll take the car industry with them.
And now I've got a headache. Brilliant.

I think it's their original words, just edited and redubbed, rather than a new soundtrack. Not that I much care...

Hello guys,

I imagine the 2cv remake much as the design of the "famous" Evoque, with futuristic lines really based in the 2cv, but this is just my opinion.
Citroën might have essayed to build a 2cv inspired vehicle with the C3, stressing even more that idea with the C3 Charleston, but honestly I cannot see so many similarities between both vehicles.
If Citroën will ever decide to do the same that Volks, Fiat or Mini decided to do with their classic models, it must present a model that reflects immediately the old 2cv. But that's just my penny of tough for this... ;)

Cheers,

New 2cv. It's been said before. This is it.

As for the advert? Well it's another nail in the coffin for the heritage and engineering innovation that Citroen are (I mean 'were') famous for. When you're turning out boring humdrum samey crap, perhaps looking at 'retro' would be a good idea? Espescially if you have some of the most innovative and interesting achievements in car making history.

Meh. Perhaps I'm just stuck in the past.
