Jeremy has 2 batteries too.. wired different to yours. the one in the back (amps and lights) stayed charged over 6 months of no use but the one up front (head unit, normal van stuff) went flat after about 4 months of no use. must be a leak somewhere drawing power. i expect its the CD player as i wired it with 2 permanent lives and not a switched one? who knows, all the wiring has to be re-done again soon before I can use him properly again.

I am trying to find volt meters to leave connected via a switch soi can monitor voltage abit more closely.

Whenever I go away without the D*lly I leave the battery disconnected for safety. I've left her for a month before, reconnected it and she started first time.

Went to start the Mehari the other week as I like to run her up to keep things moving.. Nothing, battery dead in a week. Same, new battery on both cars.

Electric gremlins?

Well, i think it is more down to the cold weather killing the batteries. Managed to fully charge one with the charger on monday, and then charge the other on route to cornwall on tuesday. So there both now fully charged and I think their ok.

Some may find this hard to believe aswell. But i broke down twice and fixed it twice... BY MYSELF>!

Need to change ride height, its all over the place. Either that or im really fat. :)

Max, I had Belinda's battery connected throughout the winter and didn't start her once - she turned over nicely this week. That might not seem weird until I tell you that the battery came out of the wife's fiesta because the RAC man told her it was foooked!!

As far as double batteries are concerned, I've got a leisure battery I'd like to use but I'm torn between a spilt charge circuit from the alternator or a solar panel. I'd really like to use a solar panel (10/15W???) for the leisure circuit to keep stuff simple but I'm not sure if it's practical or what to use.

I don't want to highjack your thread but maybe we can work together on this one?

Are you doing Firkin?

Belinda was stored inside through the winter though? As far as im aware its all good now. Not really interested to much in solar panel (no money), my setups worked fine for me now for 3 years.

I admit i do run a lot through the batterys. But it seems to manage. Only time its taken a beating was at the national where i drained them both. But that was becasue it was 2 nights in a row of music without driving anywhere.

Maybe the battery is just a bit duff. Mine went tits-up today, car barely coughed into life this morning and at tea break, then when I'd had enough and decided to go home just now it needed jumping. Ah well. Looks like I'll be taking the van tomorrow!

Yeh, I can sleep in it. Its pretty shabby. Infact embarrassingly shabby. the whole van needs condensation proofing. as its pretty horrible. Plus the bed has been raised so the sub can fit in... Priorities. ;)
