Post 435 Dyane Heat Exchangers
The heat exchangers on my 435 6 volt Dyane are pretty shot anf ideally need replacing. Are this type specific or can 602 ones fit?

Also same question regarding the fuel pup - type specific or will a later 602 one fit?

If not, anyone out there got any of the above to sell?

Graham

I thought all 435/602 M28 engines, were 12v :?: I know the manifold is narrower on the 435, but I guess the heat exchangers are the same on 435/602 M28s

Cheers for that - mine is a 6 volt car, probably the only one this side of the pond. 6 volt was an "option" according to the handbook. Probably cost a few francs less. Uses a magneto.

Grumm,
the heat exchangers for a 435 engine and a 602 engine aren't interchangeable, unfortunately. :(

I guess you meant 'dynamo' rather than 'magneto', since the latter only produces sparks, not electricity?

ken.

Cheers Ken,
You are, of course, quite right! Dynamo would have been the word I was looking for; somehow I chose to use magneto instead!

Thanks for the info - getting a second hand set of heat exchanders for a 435 will be a bit of a challenge.......may have to wait until the French National.

What about the fuel pump - interchangeable?

Regards
Graham

Yep,
pretty sure that's OK, as I seem to recall moving over the relatively new fuel pump and clutch from a 435 motor onto the 602 which replaced it.

Slightly off topic here(sorry), this is aimed at Ken...Which would you consider to be the better engine? I've heard the 435 never suffers from full/part seizure, unlike the 602, but the lower power requires greater use of the throttle and so the engine wears a lot quicker, true?

Jonathan,
in a 435 you go along in a modicum of style, as long as you don't want to get anywhere in a hurry!.
It needs to be strangled quite hard to get it up to speed, especially up hills - then again, my car is 42 this year so I forgive it!

What's actually different about the heat exchangers? Is the crossbox the same?

Thanks Graham, I quite fancy a 70s 4-light Special with 435, I think they are Uber-Cool. 8-)
