Post Headlamp wiring question.
In order to replace my headlamp bowls which were knackered, I had to remove the black snap connector box that the wires go into. I'm now left with some wires, but I'm unsure what goes where. Is it possible to connect the wires connection tabs directly onto those on the back of the bulb holder, or do I need to refit another snap connector unit?

The pic's below show the 'before' shot of my headlamp interior, and then what I'm left with now. If anyone can figure out where to go from those pic's I'd be grateful.

Above: Old setup with black multi connector showing.

What I have now! :? What goes where?

There are three spade type connectors which correspond to the three terminals on the bulb holder, and I see that the red sidelight male looks to connect to the female red wire in there, but I have an additional male connection left over if that's so?

Below: Same on 'tother side. Where's this wire go?

You didnt want to do that!
>/silly voice<

the loom has to come out of the lamp bar (attach a string so you have a draw back in) and drawn out thru the front of the bowl

you can get them from vehicle wiring products.com type places but i cant see how youd get them on without loosing the existing crimps

the doubled one is earth the yellow is main green is dipped but cant remember which is which on the bulb, trial and error. dipped is the filament with the metal deflector over it.

Old-Nail,
have you still got the connector blocks, or did you destroy them when taking things apart?

Bit late now, if that's the case, but it would have been possible to remove the connectors one at a time, by pushing a small thin screwdriver in from the bulb side.
It takes a little bit of patience, but if done right, the screwdriver blade flattens the tabs which retain the connectors in the block.
If you have a close look at the connectors, you should be able to identify the tabs...

The green wire with a brown sleeve which you're holding is the earth for the sidelight.

Will wait to hear the fate of the connector blocks before going out to find a headlamp unit. Maybe tomorrow, since the rugby's on now.

<Sighs> With my customary aplomb, I destroyed the connector blocks while attempting to push out the connections! They were fiddly, and awkward, so they got the treatment - bang!
The key phrase mentioned above was that It takes a little bit of patience... and I appear to have used up all my daily ration for that day.

I must learn to count to ten....
I must learn to count to ten....
I must learn to count to ten...

So what are my options guys?

just stick the connectors on to the back of the bulb

get some heat shrink if you think there is a risk of shorts

Shit no grew up in Denmark without any of that stuff, however loved English football which I saw with my grand dad every saturday afternoon on TV.
Later in life found myself down under looking at aussie footy, rugby etc, boring.

With plastic headlamp shells, it's not so bad, but someone I know did exactly the same as Old-Nail when fitting his Ebay bargain chromed steel shells.

When one of the live wires fell off and melted part of the loom, he wished he hadn't hacked the connector block to pieces...

Ummm.. New ones it is then, and I'll put the cost down to the price that's paid for having such a short temper. Looking on the bright side, I've paid much higher prices in the past . ;)
