Sam,
115 mph does seem rather speedy, even for a Mehari.

I really want those 4 bits of rubber to be attached to the most solid thing possible when they're spinning at 1,700 rpm-ish.

And probably some maths tuition too :?

 I was trying to be clever and do something along the lines of 15" wheels having a rough tyre diameter of 1.25meters (15 x pi = 47' or around 1.25m)
So at 130kph (yeah that was optamistic) you're doing 2166 meters a minute, divided by 1.25 = 1732 :s

Sam,
I guess you're not bothering to fit any tyres?
At least that'll dispense with all this contact patch nonsense... ;)

Typical overall diameter of a 2CV sized tyre is more like 560mm to 580mm, with an effective circumference under load of around 1.840m.

Quick question:
I've de-rusted my wheels. There's no rust or anything, and the smooth inner rims have no bumps or bashes. However, when I go round a left-hand corner fairly hard there's a knocking sound. What do you reckon this is?

Well... noticed quite a lot of grease splurging out around the n-s DS gater... (Snowy the Snail sat in a barn for 7 years right after I bought him, and didn't get any attention whatsoever until his triumphant, nay miraculous, resurrection 3 months ago. I noticed the grease when I got the engine out for a new clutch last month.)
Would all that grease have been packed in by the previous owner to mask a worn DS when he was trying to sell?
