Albert de Gier, known from 123ignition has the first oldtimer in Holland wich is legally converted to electric-drive.
On the 14 of Decembre the RDW (Dutch DVLA) approved the car. It's the first oldtimer wich is converted and approved.

It can travel up to 70km and has a topspeed of 120 km/h (limited).

See here for more info (dutch):

Will make a translation of it ASAP ;)

Great! I'm interested to see this, it sounds better than the rubbish electric cars we have at the moment.

Quick translation:
First electric oldtimer in the Netherlands registrated: the 2CVolt from Albert de Gier.
On the 14 Decembre is the fuel-code from the converted 2CV changed by the RDW.
De 2CV now has the name 2CVolt and can travel 70km on the lithiumion-battery’s.
The topspeed of the brushless electricmotor is limited on 120 km/h. Charging the battety from your house socket takes about 3 hours.

As fas as is known this is the first oldtimer wich is converted to electric and has is car registration changed. Because there is no noise the car is quiet and comfortable.
“The inspector from the RDW has seen a lot, but frowned when he saw the battery’s”, says Albert de Gier from Albertonic. He designes and build the 2CVolt electrical conversion.
The mounting of the engine and the technical control at the RDW is done by Leen de Bodt from Leen APK.

Cool! Is there any build-threads in a forum or some other info about this car somewhere?? There is a 2CV-electric-conversion happening in Norway this winter also. I've followed the build on a forum.

This is a great video 8-)

That was the same guy, but a petrol-electric hybrid.

There's an off the shelf kit you can buy for a 2cv for around £5grand isn't there? Just a simple DC kit that retains the gearbox, then an AC kit that does without gears but gives you better speed. I don't know much about the kits and I suspect the range and quality isn't up there with OEM versions (apart from the appauling MINI-E).

Mitsubishi are releasing the iMiev to the public this year, no doubt closely followed by the Citroen and Pug variants. Nissan say they're almost ready on the Leaf, Renault reckon next year for their cars and we'll no doubt end up with the Chevy Volt range extended EV sometime in 2011. Of course the Tesla is already out and the Fisker sports car is due out in the 3rd quarter.

Once we start to see EV's and plug in hybrids become more popular there is bound to be more conversion companies shoe-horning inappropriate motors, controllers and battery packs into cars for cash.

The c-Zero's already been shown. Plus, of course, the C1 ev-ie, been on the market a year or so.

C-ZERO has been shown but you can't buy it yet. The mitzy has been released (on lease) and will be for sale in spring. I'm very pro EV but the EV'IE has got very bad reviews from those that I know who've driven them. I can't wait for the Range Rover hybrid ring released as part of Birmingham's cabled project. Looking forward to Robert Llewllyn's gearless podcasts now that he's had his iMiev for a month and a bit.
