Choices. We'd like to go to BOTH the French Nationale and the Dutch Waggel but it seems they are both on the same weekend. So which one? Are they very similar or are they like chalk and cheese, or calcaire et fromage? We are roughly equidistance twixt the two. We can't make up our minds as both seem good.

O I did it last Easter with mum and dad portsmouth le havre we managed to get right to the front and blag some good floor space put beds down headed for the bar and then went back to a pretty decent nights sleep. after czech too on the way back hoek harwich i just found a corner on the floor in the cabin corridors that wasn't too bad either (altho there was a group of annoying kids that decided it would be fun to run up and down the corridor trying to wake me up but that was a day time crossing)

As i haven't been, I really wanted to do waggle this year i've done a few frenchies and they're great i just fancy a change but it looks like the majority (and frankie) want to go france agen. I'd do both if they were different times - hint, hint who has the power to change dates of foreign meetings??

No-one's mentioned Portsmouth - Caen yet, there's both fast ferries and overnight crossings and of course it's the closest once you're off the boat, although it's Brittany Ferries and they're not the cheapest, but at least it'd give a day to get down to P'mouth and get to the site early to avoid the queues. Going back again you'll arrive in P'mouth in the morning for a more reasonable drive home.

Mind you in the past I've gone LD lines Newhaven - Dieppe with a 25 Mini (shhh) convoy and they were great, we got group rate - 20% off, and they even found us a private meeting room on the boat to doss in. Mind you one of the engines failed on the way back and instead of getting in to Newhaven at 8.30 pm it was 3 am the next morning.

All of the ferry companies do group rates usually for 10 or more cars, might be worthwhile seeing about. You usually have to ring them to find out, but they're often open to haggling, especially if you've got a cheaper quote with another line.

Ok, i have sent an email to both Eurotunnel, and a ferry company to see if we can get some sort of deal.

Im quite interested in ferry now. Overnight party etc. Could be good. We would dock at 8ish in the morning. Breakfast in France. All good!

Give me a little time and ill try and see if we can get a deal. Were hoping to invite 2cvgb if this goes ahead. We need numbers and it would be a great event. Turning up en mass.

Adding to that Max, what about inviting Belgian, Dutch and northern French 2cvers to drive with us? (the ones who aren't at waggel anyway) I'm with harry, I think I'd rather have done waggel but I'll be the only person there I know!

I really must pull my finger out and renew my passport I have Friday off, so will wander off to the post office and pick up an application form.

I did mine online jon, they send you the form all filled in then all you have to do is send it back signed. Made it much easier!
