Just looking over this thread again, and especially the link in EirikJ's first post on page 1. This has a diagram showing how the unit is wired up to the 2CV's wiper switch: http://www.franzose.de/flexxtrader/data ... eitung.pdf

All they are doing is breaking into a single wire (53) and connecting the delay unit in series. What this suggests to me is that to operate the unit you first have to switch on your wipers using the existing dashboard wiper switch, and you can then adjust the delay between wipes. Ie: all the unit does is break the circuit for the required delays. I don't see how the electrical braking will work, though, because the switch will always be on so the 'braking' short-circuit won't be connected.

The wiper motor brake is energized by the motor stator core magnetic field.

Thats to say, any time the motor gets the 12v the brake is released. When no 12v are present the rotor is blocked.

That diag you are showing is much simpler that the others, with just a simple on/off switch - which era 2CV is it from?

My 2cv is a 2CV6 1981, but all 2CVs I know do have that motor and that switch. Uhmmmm. I do not a Dyane´s or C8....

Here is a pic of my wiper switch.



I think I have pics of the motor brake somewhere, or my other PC. I will try to show them when I find them.

changeover to the Bosch motor (with 3 terminal switch) was during 1981, coinciding with the introduction of the '2CV Special'...

Cheers, Ken. Rats, that means mine (1984) will be 3-wire. I doubt it'll be much of a problem to wire, tho' - just that both relays will be employed. It would have been nice to have just had the 2-wire jobby; just connect two wires across the existing terminals.

Ken , you are right. Seems from 1981 Citroen mounted this motor.

So we have a 3-terminal dashboard switch because this new motor does not have the internal conection between the cam switch and the motor feed.

Here is the diag for those 2CV made in Belgium.



What I can see is that Citroen had a bit of differences depending on what country these 2CV where made, or made for. In Spain, even after 1981 the models were still mounted with the old wiper motor. I think this is something which happened according to the stock parts in their factories.

The motor brake consists of a section of stator core which, when not energized blocks the rotor, helped by spring S.



When 12v is applied, this section of stator core is retracted and lined up with the fixed core section by means of the magnetic field thru the stator, allowing the rotor to turn.



If we did not have this brake the rotor would keep on rolling because of its inertia to stop, which is much longer than the time the cam switch off interval.

I fitted one to mine yesterday. I know it's not the cheapest option but it works perfect and was a piece of cake to fit.
