was at my girlfriends this evening, there was an accident outside the house, police and ambulance crews arrived, as far as i can tell everything was ok and no one seriously injured (i belive, as i was in the house) the road is busy anyway, even more so with all the blues and twos outside the house, yet when i came to leave i found my passengers door was open, as was the back, my cds all over the floor, my cd player was hanging out of its holder (belive me thats well and truely fitted!) and somebastard had stolen my ipod, my sat nav and as far as i can tell my cb radio! seriously if the idiot had been observant instead of nicking the cb, why not take the cd player (he had already ripped out the 'dash' trim and material) and the £500 worth of sub/amp?! now ive got to leave the car 10 miles from home so forensics can cover my van in dust, so not only will i have to fix my cd player, buy a new cb+cabel+mag mount, get another sat-nav, but i gonna have to clean out all that dust!

Agreed. Leaving iPod & FatChav in the car is asking for trouble, unfortunately.

.....and give the car a thorough clean afterwards. Fingerprint powder is extremely fine graphite dust which get's everywhere and will make a mess of your clothes if you aren't very careful.

Sorry to hear that mate, though I'm surprised the plod are going to the "trouble" of dusting for prints and suchlike, they normally just give you a crime number for insurance purposes and hang up.

unless there's been a pattern of thefts that they want to get to the bottom of? Whilst not theft related our local police in Lincs are extremely pro-active in trying to get anti-social drivers (the speeding/saxo/fog light/thumping stereo brigade) off the road at the moment.

I'm a terror for leaving my doors open, so at GFs suggesstion I bought a cash tin and bolted it to the underside of the passenger's seat (bolts inside the tin). If I cba to carry ipod/satnav/etc with me Iock em in there.

Not true when frankie (my GF) got her front all her speakers stolen they checked her car for prints AND even cleaned all the dust away after!

well next pay day my shopping list will include- car alarm new handles and locks(they forced the door open btw) im goin to buy armour plating, bullet proof glass, and a shotgun lmao

Apart from talcum powder, fingerprint powder is actually a very good dry lubricant for the 2cv gearstick bushes!
