Original is allways original. I had one in my first Dyane. After that i have allways made them from old roof material. First models i made quite nice looking, but after got lazy and just made simple cover.

The thought also occurs that maybe the lady's got it a bit wrong. If you've just gotta do it, do it in style... < http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9tLDcYQWj8 >

Might sound a little wierd but whats the point of a grille muff? I havnt used 1 on my GS nor Dyane and rarely when i did use 1, never noticed a difference apart from it made it look bad.

Re: A new thread all about muffs.
Hmmm, I'm sure there was another thread on this topic, but that seems to have disappeared when this one was opened... In brief, the reason for Citroen advising that the grille muff should be fitted when the ambient temperature drops below 10 C and removed above 15 C is to ensure that it reaches its correct operating temperature. It also ensures a quicker warmup of the engine in such conditions, which is rather important considering that a high percentage of engine bore wear takes place during that phase of its operation. In the extreme, if the engine is operated for long enough at a low enough temperature for the water produced by 'blow by' not to be boiled off from the oil, further damage to the engine will occur, shortening its life. Check for any 'mayonnaise' in the filler/breather neck, any white gunge found there is an emulsion of oil and water. Lovely stuff for your engine internals to be bathed in... ken.
