What do you keep in your emergency toolkit? Up until now, I was carrying around my full toolkit in the back of Belinda after her rebuild "just in case" but recently I've been putting together a compact emergency kit that I intend to mount securely on my roofrack along with jerrycan.

Apart from the obvious is a roll of self sealing rubber tape, a couple of small files, a tobbaco tin with crimps & jubilee clips, a copper drift & some feeler gauges. It all fits into a medium sized ammunition tin and I've bolted a strip of sockets onto the lid. Please note that the sockets actually sit on the inside of the lid when it's closed - the lid is upside down in the pic for illustration purposes.

I still need to add a long reach socket for the fan and I've seen some short stubby hammers on our market which could be handy. I'm sure sod's law will come into effect and dictate that I won't yet have the very tool that I need there and then, but at least I'll be able to add to the kit with experience.

In the racer, I carry a couple of cable ties, a 10mm spanner a pair of long nosed pliers and some gaffer tape. That's about it.

Plus: 32mm wrench, extra hammer, large and strong Facom screwdriver, some glass fuses, a black ignition coil, some lightblulbs, spark plugs, few small screwrdrivers, electric wire, tape and a lot op extra stuff wich I can't remember now...
All the extra stuff is places on top of the tools in the toolbox.

I harldy need all this, but if I take the toolbox out of the car.... Murphy's law...

No .....seriously ....the contents of my toolkit is virtually the same as Berties ....except for a pretty large comprehensive socket set ....and some lengths of alloy wire [ alloy wire does'nt melt when it gets hot .....unlike cable ties & gaffer tape]
I doubt I'll ever need half of the stuff I cart around in my boot ....but like Tom sez ....."Murphy's Law" ...

fast in a hurry on a monday morning ofcorse forgot to get to fill the tank .

I generally find that if I can't fix it with duck tape and/or cable ties it's a major issue and needs serious attention.

You can get quite a long way with paper clips.

Again, sod's law says you'll need the bit/tool you don't have, so might as well save the weight & space.

OTOH, I keep a 1/4" & 1/2" socket set in the back of the Saab (and try to remember to move it across to whatever we're using), together with a toolbag that contains screwdriver set/plier set/cable ties/gaffer tape/vinyl gloves/work gloves - it gets plundered fairly often, but usually for "other stuff" when the car just happens to be nearby, rather than actual car work!

Well that's the thing mate, I'm not crossing Siberia or anything, but I'd kick myself if I didn't have at least the basics with me. Saying that though, it'd be equally as fustrating to find that the WRONG tool was in the box taking up space - eg a short reach socket for the fan instead of a long one. Can you think of anything else that's peculiar to A series (apart from us owners of course )?
