The thing is, I can dress up nice and warm so that doesn't bother me but not being able to see out of any of the (steamed up) windows is a little disconcerting!

And iced up windows, too. ;)

Mine sits in the carpark all winter being used as required.

I'm thinking it should perhaps have had a good few litres of black bitumen to the underside at the end of the summer.

Strangely at the moment the demister on the drivers side works very well, but the passenger side takes about fifty miles to start demisting, the heater is also somewhat less effective than it used to be.

Check the cable and/or adjustment of the heater flaps, as the nearside one may not be moving far enough?
Or perhaps the foam lining of the cardboard tubing has deteriorated, so that it's restricting the air flow... :(

It's just a car, why not use it?

I´ve been driving my Dyane round the year quite many years. This year not. Few cars lost that way too. Never had problem here. It is easy to fix for winter and windows clear or not, no probs. Never had petrol heator in my car, just extra fan from GS. More snow the better.

Gave in last year and got a modern for daily use.
I get down enough about the rust rust rust issue and driving on salt over the winter just depresses me further still.

(I think perhaps I'm not understanding the scrappage scheme.....it is to buy a new car to keep the old one from being scrap, right? ...... ;) )

I use my GS some days then the others I use my Dyane... I Couldnt afford to run the GS everyday on the large 12mile trip, with the roads I use, fuel leaks, etc, I can probably average 20mpg when the Dyane runs on thin air... Oh and I have 1 Garage, if 1 car is in use, the other 1 is in the garage.

My heart bleeds!

18-25mpg, 300 miles a week! (that's why I'm using the cold wet A-series as my winter transport, and the warm dry car is locked in a shed... :D

I have run them through winter before, but don't any more. They just throw about toooo much road salt around here, it eats them away. It doesn't matter how much you protect the underside it's gonna get in somewhere. Just glad I have an alternative I can use now and keep the A Series alive for a few more years.

It's been Three years now that I finaly (un) finished off my colour scheme and some constant gradual un-bodging and re-bodging to my own standard!.. but Bubbles lives on the 'street' and is very much a daily driver... she just seems to get better and better the more I drive and understand!
