Poll: Use of A series through the winter
The days are drawing in, the camps are coming to an end and your starting to dream about finding Ami-Slots under the Christmas tree.....
Are you tucking your beloved A series into a warm snuggly garage underneath a fitted car cover....?
.....or are you covered in waxoyl bolstering your undersides to protect them from the layers of crap that the government throw all over the roads?

Will definitely be using mine all through winter, Its either that or robbing my dads merc, Which i find too big fast and modern. Plus mine seems to love the winter , no choke needed. Also nothing wakes you up in the morning better than your hands freezing solid to your steering wheel.

Hmm, a difficult one for me this. I walk to work every day and use the Fiesta to commute to and from home at weekends but I do drive Belinda every day in the week to the garage in order to work on her. I would love to be able to keep her under cover but can't so she'll be parked outside throughout the winter.

I should have stipulated that for me, i'm referring to my D*lly which is my everyday car. She lives under a carport at night and gets left on the road while I'm at work. The Mehari is tucked away in a garage.

Re: Poll: Use of A series through the winter
Maybe I'm a wuss but my 2CV is not all that practical for everyday use as my arse is fatter than the seat*! I'm afraid that I tend to use my (17 year old) BX for the everyday 60 mile round trip. *The seat is just one of the things that make it somewhat impractical, the lack of any kind of heating and lack of any real underside protection in an attempt to save weight also land on the side of impracticality. However, if anybody fancies swapping a reasonable A series for a 1996 Land Rover Discovery 300TDi with long MOT, tax, new belts, leather etc, I'd then have something I could seriously consider using on a daily basis

Re: Poll: Use of A series through the winter
I do have a "Bells & Whistles" modern Euro-box, which I use everyday. The 2cv is garaged always, but if the weather is favourable, I'll use it, to help stop things from seizing, I'm a firm believer that none use is detrimental to the cars longevity.....and besides, I'll miss driving the old bean

Lack of heat? I often find my 2cv's too hot, even on the coldest days (I really should re-connect the heater cable...).

Jono, my bulkhead is sealed-it's a racer remember and the rules state that all holes etc in the bulkhead have to be sealed and that includes (as far as I'm aware) heater ducts

The thing is, I can dress up nice and warm so that doesn't bother me but not being able to see out of any of the (steamed up) windows is a little disconcerting!
