I'm not very technically minded regarding the workings of 2cv's but I can see that the front arms are re-enforced, but what's the purpose of the extra bit welded behind the gearbox mount?
Ditto the open springs (or does that have to do with intended purpose?)

Helps to prevent the gearbox mount bending

If it's going to be used off-road, then it helps to stop the spring cans filling with mud.

Thanks.
So that car's intended for rough usage?
I thought along those lines but the metallic paintwork and standard appearance threw me a little.

It's French. All bets are off. <gallic shrug>
