Jono,
but would you agree that it's 'a genuine classic'?
Perhaps '1959 style' covers that, though...

ken.

I guess any 2cv is a genuinely classic car. However, that is not a genuine example of a classic car!

I prefer indicator-less wings and the older style 2 window body, but the 602 is better for every day, so I would get one of the 70's special edition ones and take indicators out of the wings and weld the hole up and find the pilar so i could have suicide doors.

You may find the MOT difficult(maybe impossible)to pass. Suicide doors were outlawed as being dangerous and I believe there's a cut-off date of somewhere in the 1960s(hence the reason Citroen spent money on updating the 2cv to front hinged doors).

Ok....but that would have special locks to ensure they don't fly open(and besides, looking at the bulk, those doors probably weigh more than a whole 2cv ;)so would be unlikely to fly open  ) Is that car a concept? Anything is possible on a concept(no need to be constrained by laws).

That ain't a concept! That's the new Phantom coupe...

...and okay they're diddy, but I'd still class these as "suicide":

As Dub says, nope, it's the Phantom DHC. £315k.
The hard-top Phantom has suicide rears, as does the RX8 (as Dub pictured) and the Mini Clubman (well, one of 'em, anyway)

HMMM.. 1984??

At least it's not a bastardised 602 ripple still illegally sporting its original old ID, like several that came out of a well-known northern trader a few years ago were.

...and least it isn't a resprayed late 80s car made from really lousy steel, (having said that many 1984 cars lasted only a short time before they were rotten) but still purporting to be something it isn't - the only illegal thing is the number plate. I think a car has to be pre 1973 to be 'technically' allowed old style white or silver on black plates. Don't imagine the police would be bothered though. :ugeek:

If you are sensitive to the feel of a car, it won't feel right from the moment you open the door for anyone who has ever driven a fifties car. Or look right, to the acute eye. Older wings were a different shape, for a start. Tom is probably right.

The RX-8 and Clubman thingy only have rear doors that can open once the front ones have been opened(was the only 'cheap' way round the law).

BMW and Mazda were granted special exemptions from UK law regarding the 'suicide' doors, they open only when the front doors are open and I think the handles only work when the vehicles are at rest.

I prefer gullwing-type doors, it's a shame the 2CV-engined 'type C' prototype never made it to production:
