Nothing should leap at you. or ping into the distance. I've not read back through this thread, so idealy, you have the correct back plate, as shown on the ecas site

It's the backplate as on a german 2cv they have reversing light instead of the rear fog light.???

Perfect, thank you! I bought a complete kit with back plate and switch. Wasn't aware before I removed the gearbox from the car that I have the type that allows to be drilled/tapped, but I'm happy that I won't have to make the hole myself
