 Re: AZL 1957
You can say that, this morning i pulled the starting button...NOTHING???? A look under the bonnet didn't show anything. A slight tap with a spanner on the starter motor and vroom it turned. After that it stayed working. I did oil the bronze bearings of the motor, see what it does tomorrow morning.

 Re: AZL 1957
Busy, again. I stopped at the car parts dealer this morning. The car started rolling away, no working hand brake??? Adjusted one of the winged nuts the other side was to greasy to touch with my good clothes on... At home i adjusted the otherside and as i was busy also the front brakes. The starter was still a bit in doubt if it wanted to work or not. I think it's the hand operated contact. I will rebuild another one and swap them over.

 Re: AZL 1957
Well it were the brushes. Put in another starter motor i cleaned, it works. I also retorqued the manifold again, there was a slight bit of exhaust or oil smell in the car. See how it will go.

 Re: AZL 1957
perhaps loosen the manifold and re torque the heads, and then manifold again.

 Re: AZL 1957
Today Geo did help me to realign my front wheels. The car was pulling to the left. It was a lot of work because the old car doesn't have those adjusting screws in the steering rods. You have to take wheel of , then open the joint take the cups and lever out there are sized shimms in front and behind the cups. So you have to juggle that around to find a position that is correct. Then put everything back together to take measures and start again if it's not ok. We had to take both sides 3 times apart to get it right.... So after some 3 hours it was perfect...Many thanks

 Re: AZL 1957
The last 2 days the 57 was in action in the icy cold (-5,5). And strange the first 1000 meters the dynamo was whining. It doesn't have bearings so what makes the noice. That it has to work harder?? The 2cv6 did have this too.

 Re: AZL 1957
It may be working harder as the battery is cold. Possibly has shrunk with the cold
