Yes i think so too. It started after 1,5 years of standstill. Only problem the idle jet was blocked as usual. Also the gears and brakes were a bit stiff. It has some 130.000 kms on the clock.

 Re: AZL 1957
That's not even run in yet my 2CV has done 274,000 miles (440,000kms) and is just getting into its stride. I do rather adore the early 2CVs. There's an elegance to the simplicity that the later cars lost.

 Re: AZL 1957
Yes the back is nicer with the small rearlamps. This one should have the long roof. The boot cover is an accessoire from the 50's. There were over 9 companies would made similar ones. Only downfall it's heavy 8,5 kgs.

 Re: AZL 1957
I agree Jonathan, I love the early ones too. The only trouble is I mainly use my cars for long journeys and that little engine would be such a dilemma. I would hate to change it and spoil the originality, but a bit dangerous on long journeys these days I think.
This one is drop dead gorgeous! But I am a bit in love with the yellow one. AZL should give it to me I think, I would take very good care of it hahaha.

 Re: AZL 1957
I would imagine they have a similar performance to a SV 1930s Morris Minor but with the advantage of an extra gear in the box. I will point out now that most Minors from the late summer of 1932> were equipped with 4-speed gearboxes; my April 1932 model is 3-speed. I'm often down to speeds of about 25mph in 2nd on hilly sections. I wouldn't even entertain the thought of hitting a motorway. It's going to be a very long day of driving to get from Worcester to Suffolk in June. I think an early 2CV would be no less dangerous on normal A and B roads than one from the 1980s.

 Re: AZL 1957
Well it travelled to France several times. It was at the worldmeeting in Orleans and that in Switzerland. It was at the ICCCR in Clermont-Ferrand. It was in Bretagne and Normandy. Bretagne wasn't nice to drive. At that time there was no motorway yet and with the old thing between a lot of trucks from Cherbourg on a two lane route nationale i wasn't very happy.
