Ooh whats happened there Taskos?

Lack of lubrication I believe. Not any of my edges anyway.
The worn out rod end is sloted into the pin and occasionally,during the arm movement, is snaping violently out of it causing clicking sounds.

Thought so. I'll try replacing my knife edges with good used ones I've got coming.

I've always kept them greased but it's possible that grease wasn't really getting to where it should, I suppose. It'll be interesting to see how they look once removed.

I'll need to ask my friendly garage to help, I would happily do these but it seems all four wheels need to be off the ground.

grease is best brushed on in this case. if the grease pot is part used, cut the handle off of an inch paint brush, and leave the brush in the tin.

before starting (and replacing one side at a time, so two wheels without load), measure the ride height (that you have been comfortable with) under the four axle bolt on points.

Looking at pictures from about 10 years ago, I feel like it's gone down a bit on the front. Hmm. Looking forward to investigating this properly, I will feed back.

If it's just the k knife rod edges, then yay. But even the knuckle rods are easily replaced too aren't they. If they're needed I will buy a good used set I think.

I had thought all four wheels needed to be off the ground but of course they don't. Doh!

My friendly garage said I can use their ramp and have all four wheels off the ground. Yay, it'll be so easy.

In the meantime, today I happen to have the wing off and steering column off too. Rocking the car enough can create the clanking, it comes and goes though. Seems very likely its the knife rod edges. If I can persuade my other half to rock the car enough tomorrow and it won't squish me, I'll lay under it and see.

shock absorbers, both ends
then work up (or down) steering column
anything rattling around on the parcel shelf/s, under the seats

I've been able to lay under the car sort of while my not very happy about it other half swayed the car hard from side to side. It's so loud under there!

I think Taskos has it spot on. Next Thursday I will change the knife edges and the knuckles too. I'm very intrigued as to what horrible mess I will find when I remove them!

You missed the suspension cylinders.

Don't worry, the noise is coming from up front.

I didn't exclude the cylinders from my wondering though. Really appreciate the advice guys!
