It's a bit tethered to the earth to be a Shepherds Hut. P1020799 by Robndaisy, on Flickr After most of the day spent despairing and upset, I decided to stop worrying about the Election etc. and get stuck into something I can control and influence , although not the daylength and weather obviously P1020804 by Robndaisy, on Flickr Temporarily fitted the stud walls and hung a door that was available. Not the look I was going for but, it's very good and solid, even has two keys for the deadlock. Total cost of the materials so far including VAT is...what do you think? 4.8m. x 2.440m. The closest gets congratulated .

 Re: Yellow Dyane
Well you asked for it. It was a T2 Minbus a 609d very similar (even the colour) to this. https://www.gumtree.com/p/vans/mercedes ... 1333269734 I know it says the ad is no longer but scroll down a wee bit I was living in Devon and working in Dorset for the Bird charity the RSPB. I used to go back home at weekends. I built a bed from Birch timber, stuff we were cutting down as part of restoring lowland heaths. An old Propane cylinder was easily converted into a small stove. Getting back to the van after a hard day of chainsawing and chipping in the Winter, the woodstove was a lifesaver When I got the new job (13 years ago) I was living in Wales in it...and then I met Daisy and she saved me . It was a great bus, the previous owner, a Devon hippy, had put a laminated floor in it and venetian blinds, One of the best things were the luggage racks which ran full length both sides. My mate gave me an old Calor gas cooker, a real old one, 2 rings, a grill and an oven...bliss. Made a folding table, oil lamps in the evenings, cd player ramped up...Aah! good times . The only bad thing was that it kept spitting glow plugs out, I had to have spares on board and got quite good at changing them quickly before the pubs shut .

 Re: Yellow Dyane
They make good campers . Lots of space as you probably need to keep your belongings . Lovely story. You should write a book about it. My first truck was an old MB 3o6 D like this https://www.reezocar.com/en/voiture-occ ... 33430.htmlIt also kept spitting glow plugs out. Every weekend my brother and I where fixing something on it. Even in winter.

 Re: Yellow Dyane
I have a friend who drove an towtruck for mercedes in germany. If you heard what stupid problems the customers had. Give me my 57 2cv.... They had a contract with MB to get a mercedes with trouble imediatly from the road so they wouldn't show up in the ADAC statistics. Even their own towtruck, had to be an mercedes of course, always had problems. From new they couldn't get the heater working etc, etc, etc....

 Re: Yellow Dyane
How funny Rob, I used to live in an old van too. And was a Devon hippy. Gas bottle stoves are awesome aren't they.
I ended up with an old Leyland Terrier which was awesome.
