Monday I drove into a dry ditch when reversing.
When turning, I drove too far backwards and was therefore in the dry ditch with my rear axle.
No further damage!
A passer-by pulled me out and the 2CV drives fine, only when reversing it goesclack,clack with every wheel turn.
At first I thought it was the rear axle, but it appears to be somewhere in the front.
Does anyone have an idea what that could be?
The axes do not seem to touch the inner fenders.
But I am not quite sure, my son has not been here, so I had no one to look while driving .

Rims on kingpin caps perhaps.

Suddely the noise has gone, no clack clack any more, no idea what it was.
I checked everything I could think of , nothing wrong .

It is most likely an outer CVJ on the drive shaft.

Try it by reversing on "full lock" slowly, will tell you which side worn out.

I will look at it this weekend when my son is here.
There is no clack clack sound any more, but to be sure we will look at it tomorrow.
My son is coming over from Zics , so we both could service his UAZ , we still have time to check the drive shaft of the 2CV. I still have one some where lying around, NOS.
Just have to find it .

Possibly something picked from the ditch, like a twig which has since released.

I drove trough an dug up road later i found a stone on the chassis under the driveshaft

I like simple answers

My son and I checked the whole car, both rearwheels, frontwheels and shafts, but could not find anything wrong.
There was some earth and grass on the chassis, so presumably it was something of that kind that made the noise. The clack-clack has not come back , so I hope everything is oké .
I will keep an eye and an ear on it .
Actually it runs very well, made a trip yesterday into the hills . Slowly up and a bit faster down hill, as a proper 2CV .
