Re: Van repairs Yes for replacing you need a special tool. Try araldit ok some 2k glue. Also on car shows they sell aluminium soldering rods. That could be worth a try.

Re: Van repairs Thanks lads! I'll review my options, if I go with the brazing rods and I end up with melted push rod tubes on the workshop floor, who do I blame  .Many years since I've gas welded Ally but one thing I do remember...it was a B*****d to get right all the time. Blooming thin pipe this!

Re: Van repairs Ken Did I read somewhere on a site that new tubes can be fitted, and some sort of rawl bolt can be used in place of the special tool to expand the tube into the head?

Re: Van repairs Whilst still waiting for the Royal Mail to deliver the Ally brazing kit, I dropped into Lidl and bought one of their cordless multi-mini-grinders. I'm going to use the burrs to carefully remove some of the oxidised metal from the holes. This should help, after seeing the guy in the video floating this 'miracle' solder over a massive hole in a drinks can, I am encouraged . Will practice a lot on some suitably thin Ally first. If it fails may consider hitting the engine with a sledgehammer, felling trees onto the tent and bodyshell and giving up .
