 Re: Rhythmic misfire
Thanks Rob That's a huge help. Not sure I can justify £40+ for a one off adjustment though. I'll see what room I have and what I can make up. When the weather improves. Awesome pictures

 Re: Rhythmic misfire
Mine's an old tyre lever bent at 90°. Always worked (so far).

Yes it is the same type of tool used to undo the steering levers. Item 26 is put in like the top covers of the pivots. http://guillon2cv.free.fr/documents/dictionnaire/planches/slides/Planche54.html

 Re: Rhythmic misfire
A length of 30 x 3mm flat steel, with one end bent at 90*, works for me. Grind or file the 'business end' to fit into the slots of the castle nut...

Hi Admin I didn't expect this 2nd subject to grow this much! You may like to split this thread into two.

 Re: Rhythmic misfire
p.s. Forgot to mention that adjusting this nut will have no effect on any play which has developed between the 'sliding bearing' and the 'guide tube'. Its only purpose is to adjust the depth of mesh of the teeth on the pinion and the rack to ensure that they work smoothly and without binding.

 Re: Rhythmic misfire
Thanks Guys I'll try this adjustment first and see what I can achieve. That's if I can get to it whilst in situ. I've still not had a proper look at it due to the weather.

This is my problem Can I gain access to this without completely removing the axle?
