Please don't think that I don't admire what you guys do on constructing these things but, what with all the other issues that owning a 2CV throws at you, I personally find life is too short to spend time reinventing the wheel so to speak on bits you can get off t'internet for Jack shit that are tried and tested......only my opinion do don't shoot me down.....

Please read again. Ken has made his solution before (I think) there was a thing called "internet", and as I wrote, when I made my own it was also before those can find on internet -or even stores...

Think about 15 years or more back, was there anything else than contact breakers for 2CV? Then, think again what you wrote...

Cheers

Everything is invented already nowadays.. Re-inventing the wheel is cool because it is your wheel then....

Jasu - before the Internet, there were things called motor spares shops who used to sell electronic ignition kits back in the 70's. They were based on Capacitor Discharge and I fitted these to all my A series and they more or less eliminated points wear, poor wet and hot starting and cost about the same price as a gallon of beer. They reduced the current through the points, thereby increasing their life by reducing arcing, and then boosted the voltage to the coil so the resulting spark was at a higher voltage too. Never had issues with them and, again like I said before, whilst what you and Ken have done is admirable, there has always been some form of alternative or assistance for the points available to buy....btw, wasnt lumenition around before the Internet?

^Yes, I know there was lots of kits at that time. In UK, not here. And another story was how-to-buy them, from there to here...

Make a call or send a fax at someone office, try to make sure I'm real and reliable customer and the item don't just dusappear and money don't come. And if all these can be done, then about shipping, customs ets. Oh, didn't mention about currency politics, and how to pay GBP when we had FIM, those bank fees about that...

Don't tell me about "how easy it was nowadays". It wasn't...

Ive got one of those still in the box. Opened it up to see whats inside the impressivley sized casing to find a PCB with about 6 components on it ...all of which could easily fit in a "fag packet" sized box using modern practices definitley from the era when bigger ment better!
