Close, but not the same...
Van rear arms not only have the same track width as the front axle, unlike Ami rear arms, but the location of the knife edges is further out from the axle centre, giving a higher effective spring rate.
There are also subtle differences in the layout of chassis components related to this difference in the arms which means that the chassis are not directly interchangeable.

The ride on the Ami6 with the batteurs and the hydraulic shocks was far better than 2CV. Friction damped 2CV used batteurs, also my 67 AZU has batteurs and hydraulic shocks on the rear - tho the van was based on the Ami chassis wasn't it? So maybe the van rear arms are same as Ami...?

Ah Ken to the rescue!
I will look with more interest @ the AZU chassis when I dig that far down thru it... There is always so much to learn around this French engineering, I love it! :D

For me its simple... Short vans are 2cv based (Azu)... Same chassis like 2cv like 2cv from year of build but with a timedelay. Old stock was used at Azu especialy Spain build onces.. but rear legs are cut... Long chassis are Ami 6 based. (Akxxx). Big spring cannisters bearings arms aso.

In year 2000 I went to raid OZ Australia with 1990 2cv mounted on 1970 AMI rolling chassis. AMI chassis is good choise ... strong. All 4 suspension arms and other stuff were from AMI. And it was no problem on back inner wings. Michelin 145zx 15 M+S tires mounted...

Interesting. I guess I will have to try with the AMI arms and see for my self. It doesn't seem to fit when I measure, but I have not made accurate measures.

Hey lpgo, is this the reinforcement you mentioned?

If so, it's already at the back, should I copy it for the front suspension mount?

Do the chassis need reinforcement between the front traverse mounting point and the front suspension mount? I guess it can't harm, except it being a future rust trap....

Anywho, for those who likes pictures, like me, here's the chassis stripped down and ready for some TLC;

Yep they will keep you out of trouble and welded along the seam it isnt a rustbucket...

yep listen to Geo he knows
PS the Ak 400 chassis is the strongest as it has extra steel inside the front and rear legs
to prove that it weighs in at about 12 kg heavier than a 2cv chassis
about 64 kg
by the way Ami saloon rear springs are shorter than estate
and all early ami have a slightly thicker spring wire (in reality this does not make much difference)
generally i say go for Ak 400 stuff
however ami is a very good second choice, but for ami you should re inforce the front arm bump stop lugs

Post Re: 2CV shell on AMI 6 rolling chassis
Thanks for the advice guys, appreciate it. I have welded some minor rust-areas on one of the rear legs, and will hopefully have done some reinforcements during this weekend. And also I must not forget to weld some mounts to the handbrake lever for the disc-brakes. On Monday I will start pulling the 2CV apart (I LOVE doing that) and prepare it for the new chassis and suspension. Might try the AMI rear arms on it first, to see if they fit, but I think I will be using the 2CV ones. Just reinforce them and move the batteurs/inertia dampers over from the AMI-arms.

Looking forward to start painting and rustproofing :D
