Post Re: Testing Visa Flywheel Sensors
Now I'm not going to advertise 1-2-spark here, but there are several Visa engines drivers which only have a 1-2-Spark fitted with no backup... Writing it down here is asking for troubles but here you go.. (de goden verzoeken) free translated it is tarting the gods..

Personal I have always points as backup (at least till now), but this is only because I often try new stuff which ofcourse fails

I also wrote the next sentence at the german 2cv forum some time ago:
The whole issue with the Visa ignition is that they are getting old (the boxes are at least 25 years old or beyond), so they are (electronicly??)exhausted. Another problem is using an old voltage regulator and alternator which give a lot of voltage spikes which ruins the sensors.... Bad diy wiring putting it from Visa into a 2cv gives it then the final deathpenalty.

Now I'm absolutly not telling that this is also the case with your Visa ignition, but in several cases I have seen it was.....

Taking my own ignition I know at least 2 cases (no I don't mention names) where people just didn't tighten the nut which fixes the mass to the body..

I think this will also be the case with failures of 123.. Looking at Mark 4x4 superfinn's 123 it was very badly connected (sorry Mark) when I saw it first time......

Only thing I want to tell here is that a lot of problems are comming from the man who has badly fitted the ignition and not by the ignition itself...

Thanks Geo.
I understand and agree with your comments about problems often being due to the person fitting the various components. I've seen a few examples! I don't think I am guilty of that. (I hope not!).
I also take your point about the age of the components, especially the control box: Please let me know when your alternative is ready!
I did wonder about voltage spikes or over-charging, so when I drove it today I had a digital voltmeter on the dash where I could see it the whole time. It was consistent: 12.9v at idle (battery voltage I assume) and between 14.2v and 14.4v the rest of the time, with an occassion jump to 14.6v (twice). It made no difference whether the headlights and/or wipers were on or off. (It's an electronic type voltage regulator). I'll keep the voltmeter attached on my way to La Rochelle.

Post Re: Testing Visa Flywheel Sensors
Well, I'm also living this nightmare. :(
My two electronic boxes were revised by an electronic technician and they appear to be OK, but the sensors cannot be revised. I've got 6, the 3 wire model, some have already died, the others, kind of came back to life after having stopped working while running on the 2cv.
I guess the age (about 26 years) might be the reason for this malfunction... Electronics doesn´t work like the Egiptian Pyramids :)

Now I realize I had already posted here about the suject (I have been posting on several forums about this and I didn't notice I had done it here). I apologize.
Anyway has anyone found a not expensive solution for this problem? ;)
Thanks

My air-cooled ducting for the sensors seems to have helped: UK to La Rochelle, to south of Paris and back, without any problems. I also found that the control unit ran much much cooler after I fitted a different coil.

Trust me boys
i worked on Visa 652's 25 years ago
the sensors were shitty then and ain't any better now
On the off road 4x4 cars we removed the Visa motor because of so many troubles
and went back to Dyane engines so do your self a great favour
Go to uncle Geo!!

How did you do it, Chevrons2?
I've already thought of sth similar but wasn´t sure about the result...

I fully agree with Pony on that issue - I have 2 units of 1-2-Spark-ignition in 2 of my cars, fully satisfied with this ignition & with the service LPGO provides if you might encounter a problem. Visited LPGO a cuouple of weeks ago with a problem and he has spent a whole afternoon of his limited spare time to solve my problem - thanks again GEO !! Need I say more

to my opinion : besides that a special VR-sensor for VISA is not availeble so far, it is also not necessary - just mount the VR sensor like you do with a 602-engine and use a small plate welded or bolted to the flywheel like all other 1-2-Spark users so far. This VR-sensor has proven to be reliable and is working fine

How did I do what Vitor? The air-cooling for the sensors?:
