Maybe not a bad thing after all, have you seen the weekend weather forecast?

Re: 2009 24hr Race at Snetterton
Not going doesn't mean you can't follow it in real-time... I had an email off one of the organisers yesterday - the 2CV 24hr race commentary is being broadcast around the circuit on a temporary radio station, Radio Fine Print, 87.7fm, which will operate throughout the night. For those not attending the event, but wanting to keep in touch with its progress, they can go to www.2cvracing.org.uk, and listen in to a live webcast of the race commentary. Webcast starts around 5pm and the race starts at 5.30pm on Saturday, August 8.

Have never seen the point of following a 'sporting event' on the radio, IMO it's wasted coverage. Now if they were filming it and were uploading/downloading/sideloading/or just plain loading it onto the web for us non-goers to watch, then

There's a very big difference in the technical requirements to do that. One's practical, the other ain't. Audio - A couple of blokes in a commentary box (who'll be commentating for those at the circuit anyway), an ADSL line and a bit of encoding and fairly low-bandwidth streaming. Video - The commentary team plus cameras around the circuit and a roaming crew in the pitlane, a director to decide which feed to use at any given time - and let's not forget the relief crews to provide 24hr coverage - and MUCH higher bandwidth and encoding/processing requirements...

The 24hr race, shite weather or not is one of the best 2cv events in the UK at the moment, it's an amazing spectacle of what Citroens A-series car is capable of, and what it's loyal band of followers can achieve. It annoys me that so few the GB contingent of the 2cving world can't be arsed to go along and watch it, I don't think I've ever seen more than about 15 2CVs turn up to watch! It's a great contrast to the Spa-Francorchamps 2cv 24hr race which is attended by 2cvers all over europe despite the fact it's usually snowing/raining/hailing/sleeting etc, there is always a big party into the night, despite the fact that most of the cars don't even look like 2cvs, let alone some don't even have 2cv engines. The UK 24hr race is every bit as worthy as that, if not more so, it's such a shame that UK 2cvers don't turn up to support it, it's a cheap weekend away (i think it's about £12 a night?). A couple of years ago, there were 4 dutch guys came along, if they can make the effort, then I reckon a few more UK 2cvers should too!

Re: 2009 24hr Race at Snetterton
Hey!! Come on now, if you looked back at my posts, you'd see I wanted to go to this event(I've only missed one since it's been at Snetterton), but I can't get the weekend off!!! I have NOT rubbished it in any way, I was just making the point that in my own opinion, a radio broadcast is nowhere near as good as seeing it with your own eyes, whether you are there in person, or watching on tv/web. Rant over

Apologies for the ranty nature of my earlier post, suffering massive WM comedown! Rebel, Ideal mate, come along to the Hollis pits and say hi, I'll help you destroy a couple of cans.
