 Suspension Travel
I don't really know a lot about the 2CV's suspension, but I think I have a problem with the rear, it doesn't seem to be hitting full travel.
If you lean on the rear bumper, full travel seems to be reached a few inches before the bump stops. The front also doesn't seem to have any reaction at all to the rear being shoved down either as I have seen on other A series.
If you hit a bump with 1/2 people in the car, the front hits it as you would expect but the rear seems to bang over it. I tried with 4 people in yesterday and it was as if there was no give in the rear over bumps at all, with the rear just hitting the bump hard.
I do have a couple of new rear Monroe shocks, but the car currently has Lips fitted that look quite good. I'm going to swap the shocks over anyway just to see if it changes, but is there anything else I should check?

Might be worth checking the exisiting dampers; the rear ones should be longer. I've seen rear ones fitted to the front, by dint of (someone inadvertedly) swapping the mounting plates side to side...

Please consider that various dampers have different arrangements (left/right/up/down/front/rear/on/off).

Just come in from changing the dampers.
I haven't tried the car yet, but the ones I took off were about 3/4 inches shorter than the new ones at full extension. They wouldn't go much further than when the car was just flat, so I assume that means they are front ones.

Adam, I doubt that's the cause of your problem then, since there's close to 100mm difference in length between front and rear Lipmesa dampers when both are fully extended... adam_d wrote: Just come in from changing the dampers.

Sorry that's my crap writing, I meant there was about 3 or 4 inches difference, so that sounds about right then. Hopefully that should have sorted it, I will get back later after I've tried it.

Adam, if front dampers had been fitted to the rear, it might be worth checking that the front end hasn't got rear dampers fitted... Swapped the rears to Monroes last night and tried it out tonight, much better. The Lips that came off are numbered 126.076. I have checked the front ones just now, and they are numbered 126.056. I guess that means they are rear ones? If so, would it be worth taking the Monroes back off and putting the Lips back on in the right places? From reading around, they seem to be better than the Monroes?
