Tonight we put the spring cans on. I even bought the little rubber boot things that go over the tie rods and stop shite getting into the springs. Never bothered with them before.

Before that we finished fitting the axle bolts, I don't know why but I ordered four instead of eight the first time. Also fitted the anti-rattle rubber to the rack and bolted the steering tie rods on too.

Why does it say 'AV' on one side of the can and 'AVI' on the other side?

Arms look good - is the body at the front or the back of the Barn?

It's next to the Dyane at the front, do you need me to move it?

I picked up another pair of arms from mike (Citroenboat) this morning, stripped the hub carriers off them, removed the wheel bearings and then cleaned them back to bare metal. I started to do a rear arm but suddenly lost interest and went home. I've got the shop to myself Monday (hopefully) so I should be able to finish stripping the rear brakes off and cleaning them too. I'm hoping to paint the four arms and a few other bits I've found like the filler neck and clean the fuel tank ready to go back in.

I need four decent dampers and if anybody has a good used metal fuel tank I'd be interested in that too, as I don't like the plastic ones.

The only job I can do at the moment is to drill and tap the holes to fit the clips which will hold the fuel pipe and brake pipe.

I got brave and decided to fit the brake pipe this morning, I say brave, it's not like I could have caused a disaster or anything, but I'm always scared of kinking brake pipes, especially because I am a pauper and don't have a brake pipe bending tool. I drilled and tapped the holes for the P clips and cap screws to fit the fuel pipe, and to be honest it's a bit disappointing because I couldn't get the pipe to be dead straight along the chassis rail. It's nice and secure and won't fall off, though, so that's a small consolation. This didn't exactly bode well for fitting the brake pipe but bollocks anyway. I used a trolley jack handle which had a nice groove round it to form the pipe around, and I've made a better job that I had expected of it (so far), but still the kind of job that most mechanics would laugh at. I can't (obviously) afford to keep buying brake pipes and practicing fitting them so as this one isn't kinked it's going to have to do. I'm not happy with it but hopefully once it's in it's clips it will be possible to make it neater.

I also put the new seals in the three-way union, and then found I haven't got any M7 screws to fit it with, which is something of a massive oversight.

This is as far as I got before the missus called me in from the garage. Hopefully I'll get to go and finish it tonight when she is watching the usual shit on the telly.
