springs of the 51/55 will not be strong enough for the heavy engine.

@Geo
An idea for adapter plate... Cut another in 3/4mm plug weld/edge weld as a sandwich.
I think Alu would be the best but £££ and welding may a problem.

personally I would not be concerned about the plate panting. On 1000hp drag cars the motor adaptor plates are only 6mm 7075 aluminium. I have made mine from 8mm 7075 as I found an off cut suitable. you could always add a stabilizer rod down the the chassis to control longitudinal movement?

Cut a strip and weld it round the edge if you can.

Today I milled my spacer.. The mookup was out of aloy but this one is out of steel...

First I did a little test if the 5 holes for the spacer where at the right spot..

after that I drilled all the holes in a 3 point chuck which rotates 360 degrees, at my milling machine..

Then I assembled it together with the flywheel which I drilled earlier..

At last a little video of the perfect fit of the spacer... ahum

Post Re: BMW 2cv engine conversion
thanks guys, I'm doing my best... It is the first time using a mill (and lathe) but for me it looks alright. I noticed that the proper tools is half the job.. Luckely my secondhand mill came with a 3 jaw chuck and a 11mm cutter-drill?? it goes through the steel like butter and it doesn't wander off... So I'm very delighted with the result so far.. Hopefuly it works at 8000+ rpm like it looks right now.
