Ken, strange I will dig out an old manual... should be the same for both Countries for using the wintermuff because almost the same Climat.....

Ami 8 may pull 500kg (trailer with brakes) so Ami 8 weights about 700 kg + trailer 500kg is 1200kg..

So A 2cv can pull at least 600kg (to equal the weight with an AMI 8)... so for the weight it will be no problem... It is just the bloody papers which tell 400 kg So if Police stops you your screwed (towing 500kg)..At least here in Holland (and France (many problems with Dutch 2cv and trailer passing to Spain last year))...

Here in Holland Police was making an Issue because a 2cv was hanging at his backwheels while towing a trailer........ but at last they couldn't do anything everything (weight of car and weigt of trailer and trailer to car pressure was good)....

It seems that the Sahara may pull a braked trailer of 1000kg.... I'm trying to get this on my paperwork of my Sahara...... but theres no numbers of it here in Holland, so I'm going to try at the Conservatoire...

Started my plums & custard D*lly after she's been stood outside my drive in UK for 6 months, whilst we were back in the Charente. I'd left a solar trickle charger and fed her nice new oil before l left. A few turns with the starting handle and after about 20 secs on the starter she burst into life and a couple minutes on fast idle settled down to tick over as smooth as ever. Just full service with all the required greasing then an MOT and de sorn, tax and off we'll go to get my silly grin back. :-)

Put it in a locked compound on campus as someone broke into it on the weekend and the only thing stopping them driving it away was the steering lock.

They still drove in a couple of circles and into my flatmates car and a lamppost though...

What have people done to best ensure their car doesn't get stolen when broken into?

To stop casual joyriding I just remove the HT leads.

Nice idea, but anyone with Entry Level Mechanics could work that one out, don't you think Russ? Surely total removal of the HT leads would be a foolproof method of immobilisation?

On a previous thread somewhere in Technical, there are a number of methods but an easy way is run a wire from the feed to the coil (hidden of course under the bullet connector to the coil) into the car and afix a simple hidden switch and connect to Earth on the other side of the switch - will crank and crank but will not start and unless you make it dead obvious in its location no one will find it.

I just wrote a nice long reply saying the above and then hit cancel. joy! but thats what id do, then the fuckers can crank all they like and go nowhere!!

I looked at mine yesterday for the first time in a while, didn't find any motivation to do anything so shut the garage and went home
