 Re: BMW 2cv engine conversion
Thanks Harley, is that the same for the input shafts? Either LNA or visa?

 Re: BMW 2cv engine conversion
Yep, you need the input shaft to match the bell housing, either lna or visa are the same. Also lna/visa shafts have the same clutch splines as 2cv, gsa is different.

 Re: BMW 2cv engine conversion
Also very important... Visa/LN(A) has the starter engine at the right spot....
I'm going to start with a A-type gearbox.. Looking at the racers in Spa, almost every racer had a A-type gearbox inside...... so they can't be that bad.....

 Re: BMW 2cv engine conversion
Where could be the best place to source bellhousing and a shaft? Also what's the type A box?

db78 wrote: A type box the normal 2cv one? A types are all 2cv/Ami/Mehari.. I call it delibratly this way because it is mostly common to make 1 gearbox out of a 2cv6* and dyane 6/ami 8*.. This is the longest geared gearbox you can get with standard gearbox parts... Some older Ami 6 boxes are slightly longer but only have drums.... Then longer it goes.. LN * LNA/visa */* gs 1015 gs 1220/Ami super GSA (5 speed) * Axel 1229 (1300) 5 speed is the longest available...* * I have lying around.... For my first run I will use a 2cv6 box... just to shake down and do a Dyno-run then I will think what would be best and put that in.... However I won't go for topspeed.. 0-100 in 2 gears would be fine.. I'm not sure what max rpm on a 1200 beamer is but maybee it is possible with an LNa box.... Ami super would give you the shortest bell housing but starter engine is at the wrong place.. so won't work.... 5 speed boxes are to long and placing them above the front axle gives you lubrication problems at the rear bearings.......

 Re: BMW 2cv engine conversion
Hi geo,
I am going to combine the ami super box with the bellhousing and inputshaft from the visa/lna, this way you have a short bellhousing and the startermotor at the right place. Should fit 1:1 to a 2cv engine, so if you have the adapterplate made, it should fit!
Keep on building!

Hi Rusty Are the gear ratios better on the "super" box?
