It's for the dim-dip system. It's extraneous and you can disregard it entirely assuming you have removed the relay on the bulkhead and jumped the terminals on the plug.

I do not know which terminals because it's ages since I last did it, but Ken has written instructions somewhere.

Not quite correct, since you need to get rid of _all_ of that dim-dip rubbish, otherwise it will damage your light switch, especially if you've got halogen bulbs fitted.
The most important thing to do is fit a 'jumper' lead to the 5 pin relay connecter block, also disconnect the diode (near the flasher relay).
The resistor has already gone on your car, but that's just a start... ;)

within the last few days we've had a sudden death in the family(father-in-law aged 61), which has made me re-evaluate life.

its going to have a major make over during the winter. and the brown paint is going.

first part of many removed.

While I hate to criticise anyone for doing anything to their own car, this is the best news I've seen on here for a while. Each to their own and all that, but I never could understand why you'd painted it in that horrible dog turd brown colour. :? :)

This is start of the front section of roof for 2cv, original roof frame cut and welded to nos front hood bar, so that it can still be clamped down inside. Aluminium sheet was then riveted to it, this section of roof will be in two sections, folding in the middle onto itself then onto rear roof.

just need to bend it round the front bar!!!

A tip for you if you've not already bent your aluminium sheet to shape, to anneal it so you will avoid any cracking, is to rub the area you want to anneal with soap washing up liquid will do, then as you heat the metal the soap will turn dark brown to almost black, this indicates the correct temperature for annealing, leave it to cool don't tip water on it just let it cool. Then you will find it will bend easier and if needed a sharper bend. I've been using this method for many years and even used it on my Robi trims to improve the fit :-)
