 Re: engine reversal
Sorry - I have no advice, but I'm interested to know why you would want to do this?

 Re: engine reversal
thinking of putting the engine in the rear? tips? you need councelling to stop turning your perfectly good 2cv any further into a beetle-alike just turn it round and flip the crownwheel in the final drive

 Re: engine reversal
Yeah, if you want 4 reverse gears you can flip the crown wheel. If you want a 'hot rod' fender less look with the wheels hung further forward like Ollie's ride you will need the engine in the back, or shorten your own legs! What's the plan?

 Re: engine reversal
I've only ever seen one car with that system. It was most likely built by the patentee. It now resides in Cornwall with it's second owner John (forgotten surname).
It's British Racing Green open top single seater reminiscent of a twenties racer.
Can't believe he went to the trouble and expense of patenting the layout. I bet he never got any royalties. The patent may have lapsed by now.

Since Citroen set a precedent with the rear engine and gearbox setup in a Sahara, how could this 'patent' ever have had any validity? knightley wrote: I've only ever seen one car with that system. Re: engine reversal
The patent appears to apply only for drum braked cars: Quote: From the methods proposed by this invention it will be seen that only chasses or power units fitted with drum brake braking systems will be suitable for modification thus any later model 2CV or variant fitted with disc brakes will have to be changed to brakedrum braking systems in order to be modified using the methods of this invention.
Patent law is very interesting. It seems to have been written well, and this does handle only fwd: Quote: A method of re-positioning the combined engine and transmission unit (the power unit) of a Citroen 2CV or variants thereof whether powered by two or four cylinder horizontally opposed engines and providing front wheel drive in such a manner that the power unit lies behind the centre line of the front wheels with drive to the front wheel driveshafts being transmitted by chains and chainwheels.
So, perhaps, as long as you don't use chains then you're ok?
