Got the 2CV booked in to a tyre shop down in Lerwick on Saturday. When I rang around yesterday I was greeted with amazement that there's a car fitted with 135 15s. The guy at the garage I'm booked in to doesn't even know what a Citroën 2CV is! Think I'll play my party trick when I know a mechanic is confronted with a 2CV for the first time. I'll wait for him to remove a front wheel then exclaim "Fuck! Some bastard's nicked my brakes!"

Woke up @ 1am coz thunder & lightning were doing thunder & lightning type stuff. closed hatches & ports & snuggled down to listen to the rain safe in the knowledge that I was dry & warm. And remembered I hadn't shut the roof...
Just as well the day was hot & muggy......

Serviced it (in-between showers) ready for our hols. Hull-Rotterdam on Friday night, across Holland and into Germany on Saturday, then into Poland on Sunday for a couple of weeks pootling around, making it up as we go. We plan to stay at the 2CV hotel in Koszalin when we run along the coast to Gdansk, and we may well be the only 2CV in Torun this year

Finally got around to fitting the Stiebel Nautilus air horn.

Now let them pull out in front of me.

It's bright yellow, slow and has a horn that could wake the dead.

Went to the Classic Car Show at Amberley Museum, West Sussex, today, where, upon arrival early enough to bag a cool spot on some grass under some trees, we were directed, along with about two dozen other classics, to a little visited area of the site in one of the old chalk quarries, well away from the main action and most of the other cars. Many people pissed off about this and I shall be contacting the organisers for an answer as there was plenty of space elsewhere, especially at nine am, the time we arrived. Otherwise, an interesting show with plenty to see and do. Sorry, no pics - we were the only Citroen (of any sort) there!

A 2cv and a Mehari were only 200yds away from you though. I didn't realise it was this weekend, I do like Amberley museum but as I work on its doorstep I tend to take it for granted.

It is a facinating place isn't it. Shame, would have loved to have caught up and put a face to a name, Russ. Maybe next time, eh? Not doing the Cranleigh Classic Car show by any chance are you as we'll be there too.

Nah, I find classic car shows the most boring events on earth. Also I don't have a classic car so that kind of counts me out anyway. Another time though, I'm sure. I do like Amberley though, the Bridge pub is lovely when the sun is out too.

Would have been there but missed the dead line for booking. Last year when we turned up with the roof open the 'parking monitor' said "I won't send you to the quarry coz of the dust" which we thought was a fine aproach :D
