 Re: Aussie' Kermit Don't think it is reasonable to blame the initial set up. Most gear boxes are driven for a few decades without anything done except oil change. Wear in the bearings, gears and shims is naturally common. That will alter the specifications (dropping the pinion on the crown wheel) subsequently causing stress on the contact surfaces.

Re: Aussie' Kermit Well I I have not been idle. ..  In anticipation of a last minute 8000km trip to the top of Australia, problem is i live on the opposite end, I've decided to rebuild the car... Quaife LSD 1.5inch 2-1 exhaust Lastest Megasquirt processor Lna vented discs with wider calipers Rebuild front lighting rack, bloody channeled cars... Replaceq guide ring in the rack, I tried a teflon one, it came loose, I should have listened to Viking... Just discovered front left wheel bearing is loose and I split the rear brake line at the master cylinder trying to drag the front crossmember out...     Harley

Re: Aussie' Kermit This is my take on how to repair a split brake line. It took quite the running back and forth between an engineer supplier and brake specialist for me to piece it together. I used an 1/8 olive and connecter to crimp the olive onto to brake line. 1/8 olive OD is perfect but ID is to small to slide onto the brake line. I carefully drilled it out with 3.5mm bit then used a fine needle file to open it out. Also have to drill out the 1/8 connector, 4mm bit.  Olive is actually already crimped in that pic...  Tighten the connecter, be sure to let both sides have a turn.  Then grind the connecter nut off. Magic!  Harley
