Fitted a little one way valve on the fuel supply pipe to the carb. It starts great unless left for a couple of weeks and then the fuel takes so long to get back up. This should improve it.
Had previously tried a new pump but no improvement.

Made a rack to carry the Solex on the back of the 'daily driver' 425 - that should slow it down...

pics please....

Solex rack. Made of bits I had kicking around with the help of a lump hammer. Made up new rear dumb irons in 3mm plate with 3mm angle iron welded across rear with 2 pegs to sit rack on, bumper bolted to angle in normal position.
Made a frame out of 1" ms tube to slot over pegs and carry 2 bits of Dexion to sit wheels in.
Serveral goes @ making top brackets to slot over cant rails, then faffed around working out how to keep them in place. Then just a case of making struts (1" tube again) to connect it all up. Bike bolts to it. Only mod to bike was to bolt an angle bracket to top of left front fork to bolt top strut to, it was just easier than finding another way of holding the heavy end. 3 bolts, the fork bracket, adjusting hole on seat post & front axle bolt, back wheel gets strapped to its bit of Dexion.
Lights & numberplate all visible.
See it perform @ Registers Day (I hope!) :)

Here with pics Geo :-

Investigated the knocking from front of rear O/S shock and discovered the mounting has sheared:

So now I'm driving with one shock missing till next Thurs when I visit the man with the oxyacetylene torch who'll heat up the bracket so we can remove the rest of it!

Ground some rust off the bonnet hinge area. How many times have I done that, lol. Also a patch above the drivers side B pillar.

It's not even the original panel, I had it all replaced years ago, but rust has begun to reappear. I used to be religious about keeping that area full of oil but not lately because I got fed up with the dirty run marks that would come down the sides on long journeys in bad weather.

Anyway, ground off what I could, used 'Hydrate80' from Bilt Hamber and letting that cure until tomorrow before I coat it with POR15 which is awesome stuff. Then eventually a couple coats of red.
